The adults group
Our group currently consists of about 40 dancers and musicians starting from the age of 17 years. Training is scheduled once a week. The traditional repertoire focuses on dances originated from different German regions and comprises besides typical ‘Schlitzerländer Kirmestänze’ diverse quadrilles and round dances. Typical elements are polka and waltz.
In addition to the main association task of ancient costume care, many common activities e.g. day trips, bike tours and card game competitions as well as organization and participation in carnival events belonging to our daily association business.
The highlight is the well-known folklore festival ‘Schlitzerländer Trachtenfest, happening every two years in July. Besides representing the group within different dance and music performance and participation in the traditional parade, the members of the adult group - together with the ‘Heimat- und Trachtenfestverein’, the festival promoter- are responsible for the overall organization of this outstanding festival and for the group management of all participating folklore groups from all over the world. Here, contacts and friendships are established, which could be cultivated beyond borders for decades. This international atmosphere and intercultural understanding makes this festival always a unique experience - also for us.
The adults group experienced their first international meeting already 1957 in Chamonix, France. Since then, our dancers and musicians have visited and participated in numerous festivals all over the world.
Most impressive experiences of the past few years were trips to the United States of America, Russia, China, Taiwan and French Polynesia. But also festival invitations to our European neighbours remain unforgotten
